Mostly because he was the closest thing to Classic Link, since before there was ever an “Adult” looking Link he was this small/short cute thing. Even in later artwork where they gave him a more human lookin g body type [ALttP, for example] he still looked young and short.
With the “return” of Classic Link with the Zelda 3DS title coming out, I don’t know what to think! I absolutely LOVE his design! His in-game design, obviously, since there’s no official artwork yet, but I may have just found a new favorite Link…
